Encore occupies a central site within the University District, a rapidly growing part of Calgary where the need for high-quality, attainable housing has outpaced supply. As the neighbourhood took shape around new public spaces, shops, and amenities, our role was to design a building that could deliver much-needed homes while reinforcing the district’s emerging urban character. The result is a project that responds directly to current housing pressures and provides lasting value to the community.
Designed for residents who want convenience, comfort, and connection, the project brings together a 16-storey tower and an eight-storey mid-rise joined by a shared podium. Together, these buildings provide 303 rental homes—including one-, two, and three-bedroom suites and ground-floor townhomes with direct patio access—supporting a wide range of household types and lifestyles. Students, young professionals, researchers, hospital staff, and families all need a place to live close to where they work, learn, and spend their time. Encore was designed to make that possible.
