Six Project Goals

  1. Beautiful and Distinctive Gateway to the Waterfront
  2. Connecting the City and Villiers Island
  3. Incorporate a Living Landscape
  4. Create with Indigenous Voice and Agency
  5. Embody Sustainable Strategies and Innovation
  6. Create a Place for All People

Concept Design

The concept of the Equinox Bridge surrounds sunrise and sunset alignment with the winter and summer equinox and solstices. The Equinox Bridge concept is rooted in Indigenous design perspectives relating to connecting with the land, water, sky, and creating a place for all people. Our bridge design also addresses connectivity, views, creating a living landscape at each landing, and ties with the channel’s family of bridges.
