Job Summary

The Interior Design Technologist supports the successful delivery of interior design projects through the development of documentation, modeling, and coordination efforts. This role is focused on the development of strong technical competencies and communication skills through hands-on collaboration with interior designers and project teams. 

Key Responsibilities

Design + Documentation

  • Assist in setting up project documentation, modeling, and specifications across all phases.
  • Prepare comprehensive drawing packages for permit submissions and construction documentation.
  • Review drawings for accuracy, constructability, consultant coordination, and compliance with applicable codes and bylaws.
  • Support product research for interior materials, finishes, and systems.
  • Assist in the preparation of project building code analyses.

Project Support + Coordination

  • Liaise with consultant teams and approving authorities under the direction of senior staff.

Job Summary

The Intermediate Architectural Professional plays a key role in supporting and leading the design and delivery of architectural projects through all phases—from pre-design through construction administration. Working under the supervision of senior staff or the Partner in Charge, this role contributes to design excellence, technical quality, and effective project execution. It requires a well-rounded understanding of building systems, project coordination, and client engagement. The role is based fully in-office to foster direct team collaboration and strong cross-functional coordination.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead or support the successful execution of projects across all design phases, ensuring deliverables meet quality standards and project timelines
  • Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of project budgets, schedules, and work plans.
  • Actively engage in design development, consultant coordination, and client communication throughout the duration of the project.
  • Serve as Project Manager or support senior staff in the management of scope, schedule, team deliverables, budgets, and communication, following established firm processes.
  • Support or lead preparation of proposals, fee estimates, and responses to RFPs.
  • Participate in contract review meetings and assist with risk identification and mitigation planning.

Design + Documentation

  • Participate in and support the creation of conceptual and schematic design ideas with strong graphic and presentation skills.
  • Lead or assist with the development of contract drawings and specifications, ensuring compliance with office standards, development bylaws, and applicable building codes.
  • Coordinate submission drawings for authority approvals and contribute to tender documentation packages.
  • Ensure technical quality and accuracy in design and construction documentation using Revit and CAD.
  • Support quality control efforts and internal design review processes.

Project Support + Coordination

  • Prepare and manage project documentation including meeting minutes, transmittals, and authority applications.
  • Maintain project filing systems to organize related information and correspondence.
  • Coordinate with consultants, internal teams, and municipal authorities throughout the project lifecycle. 
  • Assist with or manage project scheduling, resource planning, and milestone tracking using project management software.
  • Working with Senior staff, assist with or manage RAIC contracts and/or fee proposals
  • Ensure all work aligns with the firm’s Project Delivery standards, including proper use of filing systems, adherence to architectural procedures, and compliance with drawing and documentation protocols.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Architecture or a related design discipline from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • 5–10 years of professional experience in an architectural firm.
  • Registered with or actively pursuing registration with a Canadian architectural association (OAA, AAA, AIBC, etc.).
  • Strong conceptual design skills including freehand sketching, 3D modeling, and graphic presentation.
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD required; knowledge of project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Deltek Vantagepoint) is an asset.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of local construction systems, detailing, and building codes.
  • Experience with local municipal approvals and permitting processes.
  • Proven experience managing projects with direct client engagement and coordination.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage design fees, including budgeting and monitoring profitability.
  • Experience in staffing planning, task allocation, and team coordination across project phases.
  • Strong understanding of scope management, scheduling, and budget adherence.
  • LEED® AP, Passive House Designer, or other sustainability accreditations preferred.

We are currently seeking a Project Manager for the Calgary Studio to lead some critical ongoing projects through the latter phases. 

Job Summary

The Project Manager is a senior professional responsible for leading complex architectural projects from concept phases through construction completion. This role combines creative leadership, technical expertise, and comprehensive project management responsibilities. The individual is accountable for managing all project delivery phases including scope, schedule, staffing, fees, design quality, and client engagement. The role also includes oversight of documentation, consultant coordination, contract administration, and adherence to quality control standards. Working closely with firm leadership, this position plays a vital role in mentoring staff, fostering studio culture, and supporting continuous improvement in project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Design + Documentation

  • Lead the design process across all phases, ensuring alignment with client vision, project goals, and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee development of design and construction documentation, including specifications, detailing, and technical packages.
  • Lead the coordination of architectural documentation with consultant teams to ensure fully integrated project deliverables.
  • Guide and review 3D modeling, hand sketches, and Revit/CAD production for clarity and technical completeness.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable codes, standards, bylaws, and authority requirements throughout design and documentation phases.
  • Direct the development and execution of design review and QA/QC processes for project documentation and deliverables.
  • Integrate sustainable design strategies in all phases; LEED®, Passive House, or other accreditation is considered an asset.

Project Support + Coordination

  • Manage project execution from start to finish, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, scope definition, resourcing, and profitability.
  • Manage contracts with clients and subconsultants.
  • Support marketing team with the development of proposals and fees.
  • Establish and adhere to office expectations for financial performance, staffing efficiency, and project milestones.
  • Lead regular internal project meetings and communicate status updates to Operations and the Partner-in-Charge, at minimum monthly.
  • Coordinate and oversee project activities, ensuring alignment with office Project Delivery processes, filing systems, and documentation standards.
  • Attend site meetings, perform site reviews, and manage contract administration activities such as reviewing shop drawings, issuing site instructions, and addressing RFIs.
  • Prepare and manage authority submission packages, including zoning, SPA, and building permit approvals.
  • Identify and manage project risks, escalate issues as required, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure all project work complies with health and safety policies and applicable legal requirements.
  • Contribute to the development of proposals and business development initiatives for the studio. 

Team + Culture

  • Provide leadership and direction to project teams, maintaining a collaborative, respectful, and accountable work environment.
  • Mentor junior and intermediate staff, offering guidance on professional development and project execution.
  • Support internal team resourcing and workload allocation in collaboration with Operations and studio leadership.

Qualifications

  • Professional degree in Architecture from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • 10+ years of architectural experience with increasing responsibility; proven track record leading complex building projects.
  • Registration with a Canadian architectural association (e.g., OAA, AAA, AIBC) is considered an asset. The role may be fulfilled by a Registered Architect, Intern Architect, experienced Designer or Technologist with senior-level Qualifications and demonstrated leadership in project delivery.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including scope, schedule, resource, and financial oversight.
  • Advanced proficiency with BIM platforms, particularly Revit; familiarity with AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office and Vantagepoint (Deltek).
  • Knowledge of local construction systems, sustainable building practices, technical detailing, and QA/QC methodologies.
  • Experience preparing construction tender documents and coordinating authority submissions.
  • Strong experience with internal design reviews, quality control, and client-facing coordination.
  • PMP certification is considered an asset.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead multidisciplinary teams with clarity and professionalism.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel for site visits, client meetings, and professional development as needed
