We are currently seeking a Intermediate Interior Design Technologist to join the Calgary Studio to work on federal and corporate workplace projects.
Job Summary
The Intermediate Interior Design Technologist plays a key role in the execution and coordination of interior design documentation. With several years of experience, the Intermediate Technologist is responsible for coordination with Senior Designer in producing high-quality technical drawings, managing consultant information and ensuring compliance with codes and standards throughout all project phases.
Key Responsibilities
Design and Documentation
- Lead setup and development of documentation, modeling, and specifications across design phases.
- Prepare complete drawing packages for permit and construction submissions.
- Review and coordinate technical drawings to ensure constructability and compliance.
- Conduct code analyses in support of documentation and municipal submissions.
- Oversee product and material research including finishes, components, and systems.
Project Support and Coordination
- Coordinate with consultant teams and integrate their input into documentation.
- Liaise directly with clients and authorities to support design approvals.
- Manage documentation for project tendering and assist in bid preparation.
- Attend site meetings, complete shop drawing reviews, and assist in contract administration tasks.
- Participate in the refinement of project delivery tools and standards.
- Ensure all work aligns with the firm’s Project Delivery standards, including proper use of filing systems, adherence to architectural procedures, and compliance with drawing and documentation protocols.
Team and Culture
- Contribute actively to a fully in-office, collaborative team setting.
- Share feedback and insights to help improve systems and best practices.
- Adhere to project delivery processes and company health and safety procedures.
- Foster strong internal and external communication and collaboration.
- Able to work in a collaborative, in-office environment (100% in-office presence required to support direct team engagement and effective cross-functional coordination).
Qualifications
- Diploma in Interior Design Technology, Architectural Technology, or related discipline.
- 5–9 years of experience in the production of interior design contract documents.
- Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD required.
- Experience across various project types (commercial, residential, institutional, etc.).
- Working knowledge of Building Codes and municipal bylaws.
- Familiarity with contract administration processes and documentation.
- LEED® AP, WELL AP, or knowledge of sustainable standards considered an asset.
- PMP certification is considered an asset.
- Skills in InDesign, SketchUp, and 3D rendering are assets.
