Our team worked closely with GTAA leadership and internal business units to develop a comprehensive framework that addressed evolving passenger expectations, sustainability goals, and infrastructure demands. Strategic workshops and working sessions identified gaps in capital project development and opportunities for improved prioritization. Our role extended beyond traditional architectural services, integrating master planning, design innovation, and stakeholder engagement to create a strategic prioritization model that aligned capital investments with long-term business objectives.
Infrastructure planning was optimized by assessing airside, terminal, and groundside facilities to ensure future expansion strategies supported operational resilience and efficiency. Through these efforts, we established guiding principles to shape Toronto Pearson’s future investments while reinforcing GTAA’s broader mission. The TCP became not only a growth roadmap but also a tool for long-term decision-making and investment alignment.
Alongside the TCP, we developed GTAA’s workplace standardization playbook and implementation roadmap to support the transition to hybrid work models and enhance collaboration across teams. Our engagement, completed in 3.5 months, established a clear roadmap for future workplace capital projects. Through surveys, visioning sessions, and on-site interviews, we evaluated existing furniture and space standards, ultimately refining them into two distinct manuals—furniture standards and workplace standards—ensuring clarity and consistency across GTAA’s real estate portfolio. Our comprehensive analysis covered office, administrative, terminal, and airside facilities, prioritizing wellness, safety, and productivity. The final deliverable provided a structured framework and a next-steps plan to continuously improve GTAA’s workspaces as new facilities are introduced.
The Transformative Capital Plan laid the foundation for GTAA’s next evolution: Pearson LIFT, the Long-term Investment in Facilities and Terminals program. Our expertise in capital prioritization and strategic planning set the stage for this ambitious initiative, ensuring that future investments are aligned with Toronto Pearson’s vision for growth and innovation. This collaboration underscored the critical role of architects in shaping strategic frameworks that define the future of our built environment. By integrating design thinking into large-scale capital planning, we continue to drive impactful, long-term transformation for our clients and communities.
