Design Thinking: Designed to be a true mixed-use Transit Oriented Development, in collaboration with Munoz Albin Architects, the new Uptown at Westbrook development focuses on a centrally located public plaza. Carefully designed to enhance pedestrian connectivity between the Westbrook Station and 17th avenue, through visual and wayfinding elements.
Key Features: The location of the residential lobbies face the public realm plaza for ease of access to the LRT station. The building massing was designed to factor in sunlight and wind studies, ensuring a comfortable environment for the buildings at grade. The design of the podium’s street-facing side provides residents and visitors alike with a vibrant community of retail, restaurants and services. In keeping with the intent for a truly Transit Oriented Design, an emphasis on bicycle storage and access is a main focus of the design.
