Rezoning for 202 Jarvis resubmitted with expanded program
August 12, 2020Toronto Metropolitan University’s 202 Jarvis is moving forward with an updated planning application, submitted to the City of Toronto last month. With our partner Henning Larsen, we are delivering a mixed-use academic and student residence facility for Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU, formerly Ryerson University) driven primarily for the Faculty of Science.
Changes include an increase in tower height to 44-storeys from 41 and the addition of two institutional levels comprised of a large 580-seat student dining hall and expanded classroom and research laboratory space. The project rezones an existing surface parking lot at Dundas Street East and Jarvis Street, supporting TMU’s urban intensification planning priorities. When complete, it will add 620,000 square feet of institutional, student residence and retail uses, significantly expanding TMU’s campus vertically and supporting their demands for growth.
The rendering shown is indicative of the facility’s massing, while the site plan application, targeted for the end of August, will refine the details of the building’s cladding.
