Job Summary

A young, creative, dynamic firm with Canadian offices in Calgary, Toronto, Vancouver and Victoria, Zeidler is seeking talented Architectural Technologists in our Calgary office. The Architectural Technologist provides leadership and guidance to team members in the production of all aspects of a project including schematic design, design development, working drawings, construction administration and team coordination. The successful applicant will bring passion, leadership and creativity to the role. The successful candidates will have design experience and a solid technical background including demonstrated ability to work in Revit, AutoCAD and 3D modeling software. Our current portfolio of work includes local and international work in healthcare, innovative office design and urban residential with a focus on sustainable design. Commencement of the positions is immediate.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Review and communicate current project status to the Partner in Charge/Project Manager at regular intervals
  • Work with the team to ensure project success as measured by client satisfaction, work quality, profitability, and fostering team professionalism and collaboration
  • Work with the design team to identify specific design objectives, complex features and possible solutions
  • Work with the design team to develop detailed design concepts and translate them into design development documents
  • Lead team members and actively participates in the preparation of drawing packages for various permit submissions and/or construction
  • Coordinate consultant teams
  • Liaison with clients and Approving Authorities
  • Prepare project code analysis
  • Attend and lead meetings with clients and/or consultants as required
  • Review drawings for Building Science accuracy, consultant coordination and compliance with local Building Codes and City Bylaw requirements prior to submissions
  • Coordinate project Tendering
  • Lead product research including building components and systems
  • Attend site meetings, complete shop drawing review and provide contract administration support, as required


  • Architectural Technologist Diploma or related discipline from a recognized post-secondary institution
  • 2–10+ years related experience in the production of contract documents
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD
  • Experience in a variety of building types including commercial, residential, institutional, retail, healthcare and/or hospitality
  • Proficiency in Building Code, Specification, Building Science and Construction Contracts
  • Experience in Contract Administration forms and procedures
  • LEED® AP or knowledge of LEED Guidelines preferred
  • Strong conceptual and design skills
  • Strong working knowledge of project design process, programming, planning, creative detailing, specifications, and building systems
  • Experience in directing, mentoring and coordinating project teams
  • 3D rendering and sketch-up skills an asset
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
