Intermediate Interior Designer


Firm’s Goals for this Level

Zeidler relies on individuals at this level to be strongly knowledgeable at their fields with a proven track record of success. Individuals will be increasingly proficient at managing personal project level work with greater complexity and less supervision. Intermediate level staff will have the ability to share design/technical ideas, communicate ideas clearly, develop models and present unique design/technical solutions. With increasing seniority, intermediate level staff will become greater people managers, managing small project teams and supporting junior staff through teaching and giving effective feedback. They are expected to communicate well with clients and other professionals, and work effectively in a team setting and readily adapt, as changes need to be made. With more interaction with clients and external relationships, intermediate staff will strongly exhibit the culture of the firm and be good ambassadors.

Roles and Responsibilities


  • Work with senior staff to develop design concepts and translate them into design documents during project phases
  • Work with senior staff to develop space/ furnishing plans, design details and finish selections to support conceptual design
  • Collaborate on client presentations and present design concepts and drawings
  • Provide instruction on specific design objectives, complex features and solutions
  • Attend site meetings, perform shop drawing review and contract administrative support as required
  • Work primarily with the Interiors team and occasionally with the Architectural teams as required
  • Manage and coordinate consultant team
  • Be supportive and develop the design team by taking personal responsibility and looking to mentor and help more junior team members
  • Actively embody the culture of the firm by applying its values, actions and behaviour in daily practice
  • Demonstrate effective communication by going through appropriate channels, asking for clarification and feedback, and following-up


  • Represent the firm in the industry and advance the company’s interest and profile
  • Contribute to the culture by embodying the values of the organization
  • Be active members in the professional association


  • Degree in Interior Design and ARIDO certification preferred
  • 5+ years of relevant experience for a variety of projects – experience in institutional, healthcare, and commercial work
  • Knowledge of Revit and other relevant software including AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite
