The SickKids Learning Institute is comprised of two parts, the first of which is the office area of approximately 260 m2, the second part is the Simulation Centre which is approximately 170 m2.

The office portion provides collaborative workspace and daylit meeting space for the staff within the department. It has five private offices and general office cubicles. Their responsibility is to educate the healthcare professionals at Sickkids.

The Simulation Centre provides learners with a simulation lab and control room, a procedures room and a viewing room for observation and evaluation of the student training. Learners are provided access to computerized mannequins and other anatomically realistic training devices to allow them to practice procedural skills in a safe environment. Simulation-based training provides care teams with the opportunity to develop communication, leadership and teamwork skills in preparation for real medical events.

The entire facility is wired for A/V learning and presentations. Support spaces are also provided, including a kitchenette, coat room and lockers for large numbers of students, reception, waiting area, and a control room connected to the demonstration area.
