Design Thinking: The Ted Rogers School of Management integrates a 220,000 square foot academic program with a 160,000 square foot retail expansion of the Toronto Eaton Centre. Retail occupies the ground and concourse floors, with three levels of enclosed parking above. Ryerson begins on the fifth floor, accessed through a grand glass atrium that gives major presence to the business school at street level.
Key Features: To avoid a complex internal circulation, a landscaped courtyard was introduced as a “village square” with glazed walkways around the perimeter providing students clear orientation. The layout creates diverse spaces allowing for flexibility of teaching styles and an innovative learning environment. The program includes open study areas, a 500-seat auditorium, 135- and 200-seat tiered classrooms, research and advanced computer labs, workrooms, and research offices.
