Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
Design Thinking: King Abdul University Teaching Hospital (KAUH) is one of the largest teaching hospitals in its region spread across an 850-hectare campus on the east side of downtown Jeddah. The extensive medical education programs in place have outgrown their current facility and as a result a second phase of development was proposed. The expansion meets the most pressing priorities (emergency and ICU) and focuses on providing medical care for women and children.
Key Features: KAUH caters to a diverse population of patients, staff, medical trainees and interdisciplinary healthcare professionals with a variety of state-of-the-art programs and building features that support its objectives. These include an Emergency Centre, ICU tower, large OB/GYN component, pediatric acute care unit and day patient care. An array of diagnostic imaging, surgical suites and clinical areas are complemented by a learning and conference centre, research hub, and administrative and faculty offices as well as centralized dining, retail and support facilities geared to visitors and staff.
