Bio

As one of the firm’s senior designers, Rob Eley has led master planning and design work for virtually every type of building that Zeidler has developed over the four decades he has been with our firm. He is skilled in distilling complex program requirements into simple and efficient design solutions. Rob's technical expertise spans all scales of building design, from large-scale planning studies to intricate architectural details. He is an effective collaborator with consistent success in working with clients, stakeholders, municipalities, and consultants. Rob works well with municipal planning staff and has demonstrated consistent success in achieving consensus and quick project approvals.

Rob brings noteworthy urban design experience from Europe, Asia, the USA, and across Canada. His international projects include Knightsbridge Green in London, U.K., the Majdoul Tower in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and the Coastal Plaza mixed-use Tower in Dalian, China. As design architect in collaboration with our project team he has overseen the successful completion of academic, office, residential, and institutional projects such as Brampton Southwest Quadrant Renewal, Toronto South Detention Centre, UP Express Union Station, and Ryerson University's Ted Rogers School of Business.

Rob was design and project architect for: the original Confederation Life Headquarters Building (now Rogers) in Toronto, including subsequent additions; the 55-storey Torre Mayor office tower in Mexico City for Reichmann International; and the 60-storey Trump hotel and residential tower in Toronto. For Calgary's 2M sq. ft. Bow office tower, Rob was the design liaison with Foster + Partners in London, participating from the earliest conceptual design stages and providing specific expertise in elevator system design and Canadian practice. He was the design architect for the below-grade construction of the entire project and for the phase two tower of the Bow.

Bio

Jürgen Henze has served as lead design architect for some of the firm’s most significant healthcare, commercial, residential, and civic projects over his more than thirty years with Zeidler. A partner since 1990, Jürgen has worked both in Canada and internationally for the firm, including in Germany, Mexico, and the United States. He has extensive design experience from such diverse projects as the Cinedom at MediaPark in Cologne, Mühlendorf Housing Development near Berlin, Torre Major office tower in Mexico City, the Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort, and P3 pursuits such as the Durham Consolidated Courthouse in Oshawa.

A key member of Zeidler’s healthcare studio, Jürgen is an expert on the idea of "Cities of Knowledge": the convergence of clinical care, research, education, and city life in healthcare facilities. Throughout his career as design architect for dozens of healthcare projects, Jürgen has implemented and developed this concept. Jürgen brings experience and global insight from projects such as the Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital (Compliance role), the Juravinski Hospital Cancer Centre and Breast Assessment Centre in Hamilton, BC Children's Hospital, and the Assuta Medical Center in Tel Aviv, as well as the Hospital for Sick Children’s atrium and various renovations and Sunnybrook’s M-Wing, both in Toronto. With his continuing focus on emerging healthcare trends, guided by lean principles and salutogenic design, Jurgen brings his design strengths and a significant knowledge of healthcare facilities to every project he works on.

Bio

Since joining Zeidler in 1984, Andrea has focused on design coordination, project management, and administration. She takes a leading role in a wide range of projects requiring client and consultant coordination, and understanding of complex programs.

Recent healthcare work includes Team Lead for Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital, Erinoakkids Children’s Treatment Centre, Margaret and Charles Juravinski Centre for Integrated Healthcare in Hamilton, St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital, Peel Memorial Health & Wellness Campus; Etobicoke General Hospital and master planning of the Health and Wellness campus for Markham Stouffville Hospital and York Region Grace Hospital – both in Markham. Andrea often facilitates large group Visioning sessions at the master planning stage to elicit client aspirations and provides follow-up in the assessment of options. Andrea is committed to an integrated team approach that builds on the expertise of specialist disciplines to reach solutions that uniquely fit each client’s goals.

Andrea’s work at Zeidler also includes focused contract review, for which she draws on her experience in aligning client requirements and deliverables with the process for delivery. Andrea was also the managing project manager and partner-in-charge for the challenging Canadian Diplomatic Complex in Seoul, and for the Canadian Chancery in Astana, as well as for the compliance team for the new Niagara Convention and Civic Centre. As project architect, she concentrated on resort/recreational and community/institutional projects including the Nevis Four Seasons Resort Villas and Hotel Reconstruction projects, the condominium residences for Windjammer Landing in St. Lucia, WI, and the award-winning Belleville Public Library and John M. Parrott Art Gallery.

Bio

Ms. Zhang Graduated from Tianjin University of China and has practiced architecture for the past 23 years in both Canada and China. Her experience in both design and management covers a wide range of building types including office complexes, airports, computer facilities, exhibition and convention complexes, schools, residential developments, health care facilities and retail shopping centres. Ms Zhang was practicing in Toronto when China opened its doors to the world in 1991. She moved back to China to pursue business development, project design and management in Beijing where she has worked since then. The diversity of Ms Zhang’s experience and skills has provided her with great success in the emerging market there. Ms Zhang currently is in charge of the business management of the China offices of Zeidler Partnership Architects where her recent projects include a large, mixed-use, super-high-rise complex and a 5- star hotel- commercial complex.
