SLC Wins Toronto Urban Design Award

The Ryerson Student Learning Centre has been recognized with a Toronto Urban Design Award in the 'Public Building in Context' category. The awards gala was held last night at Palais Royale and showcased many exciting projects contributing to the architecture and urban design of the city.

For the SLC, the jury noted that the geometric patterns on the façade give the building a seemingly opaque skin from the outside, while maintaining an open feel from inside. To the west, the building continues the retail storefronts of Yonge Street. Overall, the building has a youthful, engaging feel that is appropriate to Ryerson University and to its downtown context on Yonge Street.

Congratulations to all the winners and to those who worked on the project!
