Concept: Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP
Client: MintoUrban Communities Inc.
Size: 940,000 sq.ft. (87,000 sq.m.)
LEED: Gold

Designed as a signature residential development, this 940,000 sf project consists of two towers soaring to a height of fifty-three and thirty-eight storeys above a finely detailed five-storey podium clad in limestone. A central elliptical courtyard is framed with a three-storey high limestone colonnade. The landscaped court provides an important public pedestrian route across the site to connect the neighbouring residential and office neighbourhood to Yonge St. and the public transportation system.

The predominantly glass-clad towers, which house a total of 908 condominium units, arise from a stone base to terminate in an articulated, terraced top with a strong vertical expression. Penthouse units occupy the upper four floors while the north tower is designed as a square tower. The south tower is aligned on a north-south axis; diagonally expressed balconies on the south tower provide south views to the majority of units.

The street frontage is lined with retail and outdoor cafes. Restaurants and offices are located on the second to fifth floors of the base in the north part of the building, while loft units with extra height are designed for the south part. Recreation spaces include outdoor gardens, a green roof, a swimming pool, saunas and fitness centre and health club.
