Long Center for the Performing Arts

Austin, Texas

In Association with: TeamHaas Architects
Client: Long Center for the Performing Arts
Size: 152,000 ft² (14,000 m²)

Zeidler Partnership Inc. Architects and TeamHaas Architects
have designed the Long Center for the Performing Arts in Austin, Texas. The project involved the virtually complete demolition of the former Palmer Auditorium (leaving only the stagetower, side stages, basement area which has been converted into a supply air plenum, and other support areas), and the creation of a new two-balcony, 2,400-seat multi-purpose venue suitable for Symphony, Opera, Ballet, Broadway Musicals and a range of other musical and theatrical presentations.

In addition, the initial project includes the 250-seat flexible
Robbins Theatre, and the site has been master-planned to
accommodate a future 700-seat proscenium theatre and
rehearsal spaces.
