Berlin, Germany

Client: HD Projektentwicklung, 15. Projekt KG
Size: 57,000 sq.ft. (5,300 sq.m.)

Located in the chic and increasingly popular Lichtenberg Rummelsburg section of Berlin, the project consists of two buildings, which house 29 and 10 apartments respectively. In architectural terms, the two buildings contrast playfully with one another, with angular white and flowing black joined together by unbroken horizontal bands in color. To the west, on the street side, the recessed balconies set within the cubic structure create a sense of removal from the street itself, while giving rise to a lively play of light and shadow within the structure. Conceived along the lines of a classic duo, all apartments allow for "living through", with balconies and terraces facing the rear garden and the adjoining Münsterland Square to the west. The top floor is well set back from the basic building structure, with ample space for large terraces.
