Chemainus Village Square is a brand new shopping centre development in the heart of Chemainus, BC. Comprising of approximately 58,600 sq.ft. of new retail and office space, the project will feature a grocery store, financial institution, pharmacy and liquor store.
Zeidler BKDI was engaged to design all five buildings of various sizes, including the 22,000 ft249th Parallel Grocery Store which includes underground parking.
The village aesthetic see througout the site, recalls the historic forms of buildings erected to serve the Island’s early industrial ventures including the fisheries, canneries, mining and forestry.
A true reflection of the local values, this new shopping centre is one of the first commercial developments on Vancouver Island to utilize geothermal power for heating and cooling.
