Astana Emerald Towers
Client: Bazis International Inc.
Size: 2,187,000 sq.ft. (203,000 sq.m.)
The Emerald Towers are located in the heart of Astana, a developing city with an ancient history that has nearly doubled in size in less than 10 years. It is estimated that by the end of the next decade, more than one million people will take up residence to enjoy the benefits of its prospering economy.
The Emerald Towers consists of three towers, the tallest tower a soaring 54 storeys, with the other two reaching 30 storeys. The first two phases constructed will contain primarily office space, while the third phase will be a mixed use hotel / condominium. At the tower’s base, the 2,000 car parking podium will include pedestrian-friendly retail, as well as a large conference centre and health spa.
The total project gross floor area is 203,000 m2 (2,187,000 sf) of which 149,000 m2 (1,600,00 sf) is office space.
As the tallest buildings in Kazakhstan, the Emerald Towers will be a tourist attraction as well as an elegant icon on the skyline of Astana. The tower gracefully integrates itself into the rapidly developing urban texture and compliments the historic grand boulevard, the home of the presidential palace and several government ministries located nearby.
Working in harmony with the surrounding landscape and architecture, the Emerald Towers form an architectural interpretation of indigenous prairie grass swaying gently in the wind.
